What you’ll find in the Reflections: Retreat Reinvent Recharge journal

This six-week journal guides you through a deep reflection process to contemplate your next life chapter. Divided into three sections, the journal helps you consider what you want to carry forward from the past, envision who you want to be in the next stage of your life, and harness the energy to move in your next direction.

Each journal prompt includes a powerful question for reflection, along with insights, research, and evidence-based strategies to support your professional or personal transition. You may be entering this phase in your life with an idea. Perhaps you want to start a business or turn a hobby into something more. Maybe you have a creative project to share with the world or want to experience a new life adventure. Or, perhaps you have no idea what awaits you or what you want to create for your life moving forward. Regardless of where you are, this journal provides the space and structure to imagine, discover, plan, and take action.

While the journal is a great accompaniment to RRR’s Guided Career & Life Transitions course, you can work through it independently to create a roadmap for designing your transition.

Reflections: Retreat Reinvent Recharge also makes a great gift for any woman in your life who is contemplating her next steps.

Why Journal?

A wealth of scientific research supports the positive impact of journaling. Studies show that it can improve health and immunity, build confidence, incite action, and enhance mindfulness. “It’s a cascade of things that occur,” according to Dr. Pennebaker, a social psychologist at the University of Texas Austin. The act of journaling helps us organize our thoughts, weigh the many factors impacting our lives, process significant moments, analyze opportunities, and connect with our instincts and intuition.

What to Expect - Sample Prompts

We often assume that confidence plays a role in our success. However, Dr. Lenore Risse’s research shows that promotions and professional growth do not always correlate closely with high levels of confidence in women. Instead, it is the ability to take well-calculated risks that is most critical for our success. A previous participant in one of RRR’s courses aptly said, “People assume I am confident. I am not. I’m brave, and there is a big difference.”

What will taking a risk look like and what will it require of you?

Research by Hewlett Packard revealed that men will apply for a posted position if they meet just 60% of the listed criteria, on average, while women will apply for a job only if they meet 100% of those same criteria. We tend to measure our worth against someone else’s criteria when considering a position and often neglect to generate our own personal criteria for evaluating a new opportunity. An actor we know asks herself the following questions before signing onto any project: Will I learn something new? Do I respect the director? Do I relate to the script?

What questions will help you evaluate new opportunities and guide your choices during transition?

When facing a major crossroads in life, we tend to focus on what we will do next and how we might go about doing it. We often don’t place as much weight on the qualities we need to develop in ourselves to accomplish our goals. New directions may require us to be courageous and bold. Some paths will require us to strengthen the parts of ourselves that are patient and humble while other paths may need us to be tenacious and persistent.

What qualities will you need to develop to move in this new direction?
